The real Jon Myers Story: Turning hard times into better times.”
Dear Friend,
I never expected my life to take the turn it did. I was born with good talents, but rather ordinary values and outlooks on how things could unfold. On March 22, 1996 my whole world and outlook were turned upside down. I believe it was a calling from above. As my ex-wife and I began a separation that was to years later become a divorce, I found myself in circumstances that were beyond those I ever fathomed. I found myself literally in the cauldron of life, and had to develop new skills, understandings and strengths to overcome many obstacles, and develop a courageous attitude towards life.
I believe I developed strengths and understandings that can carry us through good times and bad. I believe that adversity itself is an opportunity to grow and change, and in fact that is why adversity appears in our lives: To give us these opportunities to grow and change as a person. I learned from these adversities and developed strengths and understandings that I never fathomed. I put these skills and understandings to work in my mediation company Calm Interventions, Inc. www.calminterventions.com. I have also developed another web-site about personal growth: Imustbeme.com. In these times of very uncertain economic and geo-political realities I believe the skills I have learned can be guideposts for me and for others in terms of turning hard times into better times.
I have written a book, “An Unbelievable Story: The Triumph of Faith over Fear” to describe how I walked the walk in terms of confronting challenging things, how I responded, and how I changed and grew as a person. Unlike some self-help books, I do not give you a long list of things to do. Instead I share with you, how I made changes, with the idea that you can learn from some of the things I went through. I wrote this book, because the circumstances I encountered were the most bizarre and ludicrous a person could imagine. The story is not for the faint of heart.
As I travel and meet more people, I find that many people have a story to tell. In the twenty-first century, there are still harsh and difficult behaviors, and many people have to cope or respond to these behaviors to become survivors, and eventually heroes in their own lives. Through this web-site I seek to share my story in the name of stopping some unbelievably harsh things that unexpectedly came at me, and inspire others to become stronger as well. I encourage others to find the inner hero in their own lives. Nobody should suffer harsh of abusive treatment from others; nobody should live in undue fear of forces or situations. All of us in the end must be guided by and ruled by decency, reason and common sense; this site is my contribution to expanding those efforts.
Lovingly,
Jon Myers 12/18/08
